Odor holders
Great construction, great fit, great soles and all of the good stuff that Astral did that made them a sneaky good move in the river community. BUT!!! And this is a a bigger butt than a Kardashian: the material they have lined these with holds odors like a regular sneaker you get wet all the time. No joke, they stink. I owned the Astral Brewers for two seasons without ever smelling them. Two seasons of daily use, in and out of the river, day in, day out. No odor. The Brewer 2? GROSS. So the improvements in comfort, etc. all can go by the wayside when you don’t want this shoe on after one day on the river.

Too narrow a fit for me.
If you have wide feet these might not be for you. I tried to break these in but they are narrow at the forefoot and my feet would ache after a few hours. They are very minimalist and the quick dry material is awesome. They are super lightweight. Bummed they don’t fit my foot shape.

These shoes are amazing!
Bought this shoes for a Whitewater Rafting / Canyoneering / Hiking trip in UT. These shoes do it all! They have sticky enough tact to let you canyoneer with confidence, and drain water so effectively you can take them "swimming" down the Colorado rapids. They dry fast, provide awesome support and protection and are very very well made! I will definitely be buying more Astrals! On a side note, I showed these shoes to my travel buddy, he loved them and picked up the boot version due to his bad ankles. All trip long he couldn't shut up about how much he loved his shoes. To the point where I had to remind him that I have the same shoes and was the one to recommend them to him...... He then proceeded to rave about the shoes to everyone else on the trip! He wasn't show boating, he was just so impressed with his Astral boots he was excited to share his joy with anyone and everyone around him.

The best water shoe made.
This is my 2nd pair. I've had the original pair nearly 3 years. 3 years of thrice weekly water aerobics in a chlorinated swimming pool. Nothing lasts that long in chlorine except these shoes. I'm actually going to keep the originals in rotation since they're still holding up well.I'm not as happy with the fit because I have a wide foot and have to buy a longer shoe to gain the extra width I need but that's not a big problem considering the quality you get. And they aren't cheap, but I'm a firm believer in that you get what you pay for. Well worth the price, imo.

Uncomfortable
I ordered these several months ago in anticipation of travel to the Caribbean. Omicron variant changed all that and I only had an opportunITY to use them now. I ordered my usual size and to my dismay they feel unusually small and uncomfortable The construction seems substantial and they drain well. But with shoes, it’s FIT, FIT AND FIT. Had I realized this sooner I would have exchanged them for a size larger, but that ship had sailed

Very comfortable shows
Bought these shoes for kayaking. Lighter than I expected but very durable. Soles are thick enough not to feel pebbles or small rocks as you walk. And they grip the ground well.My only complaint is very small pebbles get in the water drains on the front so you have rocks in the shoe.Over all I give them 4.75 stars

Nice but doesn't dry quickly and can get smelly after salt water use
Overall a nice sneaker but not that great as a water shoe. It is nice and snug around the opening so you don't get a lot of sand but there is no removable insole, and the shoe does not dry fast despite the claims. It also can get ripe after saltwater use as with many/most water shoes.I would recommend if you plan to use it mostly out of the water and occasionally in water. As far as a water shoe - I am trying other designs with screened holes in the sole and sides for drainage to see if they will dry faster.

Not a wide toe box shoe
These were advertised as a wide toe box shoe. They are not. I don't even have particularly wide feet, I just like the wide toe box and wear them almost exclusively. I couldn't even get these on comfortably. In the picture, the narrow brown shoe on the right is the Astral. The wide black shoe on the left is an Altra Torin, a true wide toe box. Both are men's U.S. 9.5. (I even double checked that they didn't send a woman's shoe because it was so narrow.)Thought I would love them based on the description but it is inaccurate. I can't speak to other features of the shoe in general as can't wear them so if you don't need the wide toe box, they may work for you.
