I'm impressed
I got rid of my old DVD player years ago. For whatever reason I hung on to all the DVDs. And there's a lot of them. The idea was that I could see these movies by streaming them anytime I want. But now they're charging five bucks a whack. So back to the DVD player. This little guy works great. Totally impressed. Definitely would buy again. Takes up almost no space. Picture quality is great.

Full Size Performance, Very Small Footprint & Price
I bought this very small DVD player for a relatively cramped viewing/playback area in my RV. Given its low cost and very small size, I did not expect it to perform as well as my larger, full-feature Sony DVD player in my home theater. However, I compared them by playing the same home-made (self-recorded family archive) DVD and a commercial DVD (specifically a Charlies Angels action movie). I fed them each to my Sony Bravia 55" screen via the same HDMI input. The picture and sound quality were identical! The user controls/menus, however, were very different. The Craig menus/controls are much clunkier (i.e., not polished/pretty) but they still do everything I want to do.The bottom line: This is a very good deal and does everything a larger, more expensive player can do. The user controls may take a bit of getting used to but after playing a few DVDs you'll probably find you've adapted. If not, give it to your kids!! They can handle it for sure! :-)

Works great EXCEPT that remote button labels are too faded & FAR TOO TINY TO READ!!
- Works great, great price.- Did NOT come with HDMI cable, I paid a few dollars extra for this model for the HDMI Yet still a great deal for 4 months of zero internet service over the CA winter in 2023.- CAN'T READ REMOTE BUTTON LABELS!!- Amazing extra functions, BUT CAN'T READ THE BUTTONS, SO CAN'T USE THEM!BAD:Text labels on the remote ARE FAR TOO TINY & FAR TOO LIGHT TO READ!!!Never had a remote this bad. It works, but it's labeling is USELESS, so the remote is virtually useless!Which means that all the AWESOME extra functions this device offers, they effectively cannot be used! You can try to memorize a few buttons you use most, BUT, you'd forget unless used daily. The tiny very light labels will certainly fade to nothing or rub off quickly. THEN you're out of luck. Player won't work ONLY because the buttons are unlabeled! You'll need a bright light & magnifying glass to operate the remote. You'll have to use it like an old fashioned TV before remotes existed. And won't be able to use advanced features. But, if you never rewind, pause, restart playback or use any of the amazing extra features is has, this works GREAT!

Meh
Quality kind of sucks and it will randomly stop working from time to time in the middle of watching a movie.

Compact and Reliable DVD Player
The Craig CVD401A Compact HDMI DVD Player has been a great addition to my entertainment setup. Its compact design is perfect for small spaces, and the sleek black finish looks modern and unobtrusive.Setup was a breeze – just plug it into the HDMI port on my TV, and I was up and running. The player is compatible with a range of formats including DVD-R, DVD-RW, and JPEG, which is a nice touch for viewing digital photos directly from discs. The included remote control is user-friendly and responsive, allowing for easy navigation through menus and settings. Picture and sound quality are both solid for a player at this price point. It handles standard DVDs without issues, providing clear visuals and decent audio. One minor drawback is that it lacks additional features like USB ports or smart functionality, but for a basic DVD player, it delivers reliable performance. If you’re looking for a straightforward, no-frills option for playing DVDs, the Craig CVD401A is a good choice. It offers good value for its price and meets the needs of those who want a compact and efficient player.

the price is right for this decent unit!
My wife & I are worship leaders at our "little" church; our 5 disc CD player has been threatening to bite the dust in recent weeks; after it refused the play a CD (after it had played it completely!), I decided to get something with decent reviews and that had its own volume control. This unit fits the bill for the most part, best thing is the price. Yes, as some say, it's a bit clunky sounding plus it auto shuts off a bit too quick for us, but it will do!! (it won't be used for DVD playback, at least we don't plan on doing so)
