The Godfather Coppola Restoration [Blu-ray] [1972] [Region Free]

The Godfather saga is to this day one of the very best trilogies ever filmed and these videos are Redigitized to perfection! I definitely recommend you get this box set !

This review is only about the sound of this restoration. There are countless reviews of this movie out there and if you are reading this you’ve likely watched it many times already anyway. I was highly impressed with the sound quality they packed into this Blu-ray. This is almost a fifty year old movie but the master audio track sounds incredible on a height channel enabled/Atmos setup. There were several scenes that had very engaging atmospheric sounds and the music tension built incredibly well. Definitely get this set if you have a minimum of 5.4.1 setup. I haven’t watched II yet (and probably won’t watch III) so I can’t comment on that one but I assume the quality is the same. Highly recommended.

These movies have been reviewed by individuals far smarter than me, so if you want to check up on their watchability, research elsewhere. The quality of these discs are fine, and the supplementary material is perfect for a series that deserves to stand on its own. Even though he is clearly edgy and nervous, Coppola is great in bringing out what was clearly a stepping-stone in his career and making the most out of it. He has stories, and the Godfather movie has always itself been a story that deserves proper telling. Here is your opportunity.

Like many Americans with cable service, I am unable to resist turning on any of "The Godfather" films when I notice one being played - on any channel. What a treasure to finally have these beautiful Blu-Ray versions to watch whenever I would like. (At last, the 3rd installment is no longer dismissed as "the unwanted step-child" by programming elites! It is right there, at my fingertips.) There are a few additional featurettes on a fourth disc that all fans will savor. I love one moment where Richard Belzer and another actor recite several classic (as well as "deep cuts") lines from the trilogy, trying to "out-Corleone" each other. It further illuminates just what a ubiquitous influence on our culture The Godfather films have had. The transfer to dvd quality is GORGEOUS.

Godfather is a classic and with good reason. It's a great trilogy and the blu-ray remaster is nice. The bonus disc also has a lot of content on it, interviews with the director and such. Only paid $30 at the time of ordering so can't beat that! I've seen the complete set priced $45 at Wal-Mart. Trust me and get the blu-ray. It gives it that extra bit of quality instead of a DVD for sure on this one.

I love the godfather , the book especially an the movie both are brilliant. Being a geek I am always hungry for details an BTS stuff is pretty good the genesis of the movie , very interesting. But there are always more details to add so I will be watching for more.

I bought a set of this in a local store on a whim but ran across this version on Amazon and realized the product number was different and got the hunch that this set had a bunch of extra material with it. Since I was gifting it, I bought this one to compare with the store bought one before I opened either. There was no contest. This is the right version to buy.

I've had this for years and have watched is many times a year. I also have The Godfather Saga in VHS, which is in chronological order and has many scenes that aren't in any of the other discs. Will they ever produce this Saga in Blu-Ray? If they did, it would sell out in a heart beat. I even took the set to see if anybody can transfer them to DVD discs and nada...........something about copyright infridgement.
