As a police officer, I bought this light to do drug evaluations and check "customers" pupils in the dark. I am able to measure their pupil size which historically has been nearly impossible to do with very low traditional light. This fits right in my shirt pocket and provides just enough light so that their pupil size doesn't react to it. Th may not put out enough light for other purposes you may have for it

Average amount if UV for a small, portable light

Feels solid and well made, and has the right UV frequency. I think it's adjusting expectations - after all, it has only so much illumination for its size and battery. The right conditions for checking out things other than currency: darker the area the better - total dark is best; hold it very close to surfaces; use yellow lensed eyewear. And by the way, make sure the yellow eyeglasses block UV - test by shining the lamp first on something you know will "glow", such as a white object. Then shrine the light through the eyewear, and if it truly blocks UV, then that same white object will not glow. Still good for the price.

It's a little hard to hold on to but that's expected for a AAA cell I light. The 360nm (365?) output works well for currency and ID checking.

I bought 4 of these, 3 burnt out in two months. A burning sensation each time in my shirt pocket. Bulb burns out fast. On/off button to sensitive.
