The Age of Great Dreams (American Century Series)

This is a terrific overview of the 1960s and the many revolutions and paradigm shifts that occurred within the decade. I would have liked to read more about the reactions of mainstream Americans to the tumultuous events of the decade. I would have also liked a chapter on NASA and the Apollo missions. The lunar landing was only briefly mentioned in this book. But if you are a person who wants to learn about the 1960s, this is great book to read. It covers Civil Rights, the Cold War, Vietnam, the counter culture, rock music, the Great society, and most things 1960s.

A good survey and synthesis of a particularly complex and turbulent time in U.S. history.

Well done on the sixties

I bought a hard copy of this book for my 60's Kaplan class. It was great. The pages were a little rough and yellowish.... But whatever.

A trip down memory lane

A thorough unbiased history of a unique decade, but if I hadn't lived through it as a young adult, I'm not sure I'd have gotten a real feel for how special a time it was. Glad I read it.

Liked the book, used it for class

Excellent book, I highly recommend this, it’s very informative.

This is an excellent overview of a fascinating decade. It's quite a sort book at approximately 265 reading pages so it's a synthesis and an analysis - but it's very good at that and very thought provoking. I thought it was particularly good on Vietnam, but it covers civil rights very well and also the counterculture, radical / student politics and Black Power. How American society changed between 1959 and 1971 is quite remarkable. Good book.
