iGotTechHeavy Duty Gym Lock: 4 Digit Combination Padlock

This is a great little lock. I would have given it 4 stars because of the middle two numbers not working correctly (they cannot be changed to new numbers), but I mentioned it to the company and they immediately offered a replacement w/out any returning hassle.I did not actually opt to replace it because 2 numbers is enough to deter people from getting in my gym locker to steal a tshirt and dirty socks. Nobody is going to know the middle two are permanently set to the default number by looking at it, but the fact that they were willing to replace it immediately no questions asked was what I was looking for to give a good review. I understand sometimes items have defects, I work in manufacturing as well.Other than that, it's as heavy duty as it can be for the size, feels substantial etc. I wouldn't lock a bike up with it, but I live in a high bike theft area where it's only appropriate to use large metal u locks for bikes. I definitely think it's a great lock for minor deterrent use and I like the feel of it and side panel.

I was looking for a replacement lock, as I lost my horizontal (number, NOT letter which I hate) lock. This lock is sturdy and easy to use...it's made of high quality materials and the tumblers almost click as you dial the combination. My only complaint, with my aging vision, is that the numbers are so small, in black print on chrome. If the numbers would be slightly larger or distinct (say, black with white lettering?) it would be perfect and get 5 stars.FYI, I see these all over the gym locker room, so they are popular. I do wish they allowed you to pick a color, way too many people have a shade of blue!

I purchased this for one of my students after she locked her key to her keyed lock inside the locker. This is easy to use and we were able to pick the code so it is something she is familiar with. The display on the side instead of the front makes it harder to see as she has to twist the lock to make sure she has the correct code on it. Also, you have to hold the lock in the locked position and rotate off the combination to lock it. This does not lock if the combination has been changed before re-closing it, there was a learning curve to getting this locked.

This gym lock was exactly what I was hoping for when I ordered it. What I didn't want was one of those spin-clockwise, spin-counterclockwise, spin-clockwise locks from middle and high school, where I always seemed to pass the right number or forget the middle part, etc.Pros:1. You set the code, four digits that you dial in. I use an old ATM code which is never going to leave my brain.2. You can look at the side to see the code, or the front. Since you set the code, you essentially pick where you want to see the code. I like the front view.3. Lightweight and not bulky, great for me to lug to the gym.4. Very responsive customer service, emailed to make sure I got it and was satisfied with the performance.When I need another lock in life (who doesn't?), I'll check this company out first.

I think it is a little odd that it is a replica of the Masterlock brand. I ordered this without reading the details assuming it was a Masterlock only to realize that it is an imitation (or vice versa). I own several of the Masterlock equivalent locks and they function great outside and exposed to the elements. I use them for a fence and for my storage boxes. The colored tabs have faded in the sun after three years but I have yet to see any rust and they open and close the first time - every time. The iGotTech lock uses the same basic design as Masterlock but the tumblers with cast numbers are difficult to turn and jam. It locks and unlocks but is very stiff and sometimes requires light force to open and close. The grey outer casing has small relief cuts in the case that likely came from the stamping/moulding - they can have sharp edges. I find the overall quality to be inferior to the Masterlock brand so they are probably not manufactured in the same plant - I thought they might be identical but rebranded. They were priced the same as brand name locks so returned mine to Amazon and purchased the Masterlock instead. Your mileage may vary but I think that I am more comfortable purchasing a brand I recognize.

It's pretty much what you need in a lock for the gym. I like that you can set your own combination so you don't have to remember random numbers. And I hate the spin dial locks. My only slight complaint about the lock is that when the lock is on my gym locker, the numbers have a hard time spinning when I am pulling down on the lock. Therefore I have to push up on the lock so that the ring is more inside the actual lock. Hope that makes sense. This isn't a deal-breaker, though.

So far so awesome! I'm using this on a gate that is in direct sight of the Arizona sun. I'll update if anything changes.As of June 2018, after using this for a year, the lock acts brand new. We use it on a gate that is in direct line of the Yuma Arizona sun and other than the color being faded it has proven itself over and over again. We use the gate minimally 10 times a day, so that's at least 3650 uses. It doesn't heat up much more than warm water in 100 plus temperatures.I recommend this for anyone and everyones uses.

Bought two of these locks for my wife and myself. These are for use at the Gym. I chose the combination lock to save having to carry keys around during work out.These locks seem to be well made and are quite heavy. Setting the combination was easy just make sure you keep the hook pressed down firmly when setting the numbers.The only problem my wife had was reading the numbers at the side without glasses. The code can be set with the numbers on either face instead of the side so this may make it easier to read.All in all a good lock for the price.
