I buy the Lasser books every year. This one was advertised '2nd edition'. I received the first edition. I was looking for the latest edition that would be the most current. Maybe I will find a more reliable supplier next year.

As a retired CPA who uses TurboTax, the much more in depth questions, rules, and procedures offered by Lasser's is necessary to bring me up to date to the ever changing tax laws.Many topics are covered; all supplement understanding and compliment the TurboTax preparation programs.

It's almost like book created to promote the public accountants. Most of the time it makes you feel like an idiot because of how detailed content is, yet when it counts - it misses very, very major points. Not because the points could be too complicated for your average idiot, but for the idiot to eventually give up and go and hire the CPA.Contrary to popular belief IRS publications are sharp, systematic and to the point. However, there is no flow in them. With this book I was hoping to get the bigger picture of things, to actually understand "why's" and logic behind the rules, yet the book is useless in that sense.

As a CPA I have many tax books available but for everyday use hard to beat this book.

JK Lasser's has always been my favorite Go-To book during tax season. I particularly love the side-bar comments where many helpful tips are located. It's easy to look up information through the index and is every bit as good as their hard cover publication of the same title which cost about $75 except that the hard cover version has a section that lists all the citations of the Internal Revenue Code, Regulations and case law. If you need to research tax issues, the hard cover book may be a better bet, but otherwise, this book is plenty for most situations. It also allows you to go online and look up any changes that were made to tax law after the publication date. Of course you can also go to the IRS' website, but this is more or less a one-stop-shop.

Trash like, book cover and some pages considerably torn even though not missing page. If this book is not latest version, I would have thought it used one.

The softbound Lasser's tax guide is a reliable, go-to source of yearly, tax information. I believe it to be well worth the Amazon asking price.The website, however, does not deliver on the Guide's promise. For me, it was a waste of time upon realizing that no 2020 tax updates were available.Hopefully, next tax year will offer a seamless transition from the book to the site.
