These things are FIRE
I bought these to help teach our local youth group some fire starting skills. I had each boy tie a snake knot lanyard out of paracord and they hooked the metal scraper to the lanyard before tying an overhand knot. They worked really well. The boys were able to get their own fires started with some advice and guidance from the leaders. These are big compared to the dinky little one I had as a boy scout. They will last a long time and be good for many fires. This pack of 10 was cheap compared to an individual one with a lanyard and scraper. Easy to use and effective at starting fires!

Every outdoorsman should carry 2- one in the pack and one on their person.
Lights even in wet weather. Fire gives comfort, safety, signaling! Gotta have fire ability in the woods.

"Great for an introductory fire starting kit." or "They'll work in a pinch."
Worked well! I burned my house down with one of these! J/K. They work, a bit to small for my hands but in a pinch it's better than a wish. I used them as part of a fire starting kit I gave out as gifts.Of course I tested them before I gave them out as gifts. They worked however it took me several tries before getting ignition. I'm most familiar with magnesium starting rods (some will understand). If you have a good striker and some patience these will work in a pinch. If you're a serious fire bug "camper, hiker, etc." you'll probably be better off spending your money on a larger ferro rod.If you're going to buy these for a bugout bag that's fine. Keep a couple out to practice with so when (if) the time comes when you truly need to use it, you'll have the experience.

Good for Sparks, Good for EDC, Good for Value
Foremost, these strike (scrape) well to throw sparks. Next, the size is very good for "EDC" of a reasonably sized (8cmx0.8cm, or about 3"x0.3") Ferrocerium rod with a lanyard hole for a split-ring or thin cord. Lastly, the value is very good, at about $1.50 each ($15/10pcs) at the turn of 2025. Share with your backpacking buddies.

Light my fire.
I can count on this item when I need it most to get a fire lit. I have been using one of these on my keychain for five years with no complaint while hiking/camping. Easy to use and throws off lots of sparks.
