The two issues I have found in less than 24 hours of use are 1) the power switch doesn't automatically switch to off after dispensing water like stated in the manual 2) It does not dispense ...
Update: The switch auto-off started working by it's own after a few days of use. Only issue that remains is that it gives 4 cups not 5 (haven't gone over the "max" line)First one was lost in shipping, got refunded, not a problem. Second one I received but it's not working correctly. The two issues I have found in less than 24 hours of use are 1) the power switch doesn't automatically switch to off after dispensing water like stated in the manual2) It does not dispense water when it's low (it is considerably higher than the minimum line) in the manual it states if the water is at or below minimum the machine will shut off before dispensing water. For me it dispensed a little and just stayed making the pump sound but not water was coming up. It was more than half way up between "min" and the next "dot" going upwards. It is already a small tank, this makes it usable volume even less.

Stinkie?
Great, mostly. Extra water from the heating unit flushes back down into the water tank. After a while the tank starts to stink. I fix this by rinsing well and putting water in straight from the tap (city water a la chlorine). But I do wonder if this is a sanitary issue that could breed bacteria...that is the only thing I can think of that would cause the stink. Definitely store dry if you are not using for a week or more.

Fantastic Item
Fantastic. . First saw this in England, however theirs let's you start and stop and a knob to use to brew a larger size and stop when you just want a little more. Hard to find on the Amazon website. Brews a great hot cup of tea, hot chocolate or whenever a hot cup of ware is needed. About 80 seconds and whale.

which they loved for the convenience
Bought this for my grandparents for Christmas. They were previously using a Sunbeam Hot Shot, which they loved for the convenience. But when we were visiting a few months before the holiday, my grandpa made a comment that his favorite mug is too tall for the hotshot. This instant kettle is tall enough for his mugs and even more convenient since it has a water reserve so that you don't have to continuously fill the water for each and every cup you make.

COMPARISON: Quiseen to Sunbeam Hot Shot
The media could not be loaded. WHAT IT ISIf you just want to boil some water fast with minimal effort you have a few choices. A teapot or other pot on the stove, putting a cup of water in the microwave, an electric kettle or a dedicated hot water maker. A teapot usually has to be filled each time and there is the risk of boil-over or boil-dry. Boiling water in the microwave usually isn’t as fast as it seems and there have been instances of certain types of cups shattering. Electric kettles (and dedicated hot water makers) are nice and some have automatic settings with variable temperatures, but they can get expensive and most take 5-8 minutes to come to a boil. The electric units are best suited for people who want to heat a full pot of water, like 2-4 liters. For someone who was after a truly fast single cup of water up until now there has only been one commonly available choice and that is the Sunbeam Hot Shot. Until now. The Quiseen Instant Hot Water Kettle is brand new and a direct competitor to the Hot Shot. I’ll be comparing the two here. The Quiseen works similarly to the Hot Shot in that you can fill it with water and (almost) at the push of a button get a single cup of hot water for tea, cocoa, instant soups and pretty much anything else. Both devices can boil enough water for a single cup in about a minute, which is truly instant compared to almost any other method. And after you pour the water you can simply walk away, not usually the case with other boiling methodsHOW THEY COMPAREHere we will compare the two units 1-on-1 as they perform common water heating tasks.CAPACITY: Sunbeam only makes one large cup at a time and does so “on demand”. If you will only want 1 cup 100% of the time it’s okay but having to refill it for each cup seems to be more effort than its worth. The Quiseen holds 5 cups of water and it heats the whole tank of water, so after its hot you can pour several cups without refilling, an advantage.OPERATION: With the Sunbeam you pour a cup of water into a lidded tank, plug it in and push a button on top. Oddly, that button doesn’t turn the unit OFF, the only way to do that is to unplug it. The water starts to boil and about a minute later it automatically stops boiling. There is no alarm, light or anything to tell you it is ready other than a soft “click” when the heating element turns off. You place the cup under the hole and press down on a plastic lever that opens little valve in the tank to let the water flow. The water will flow until the tank is empty or when you release the lever. To make another cup, repeat. With the Quiseen, if you are starting from scratch, you pour water into the tank, which has a push-button flip lid. Or if you desire you can remove the tank and carry it to the sink. To start the heating you press a button on top. IMPORTANT: you MUST place a cup in position before starting the unit, if not you risk having scalding boiling water flow all over your counter and maybe you! After a minute or two water will automatically start flowing into the waiting cup. To make another cup, just push the button again (you can pour up to 5 consecutive cups). After that you can repeat the process. Unlike the Sunbeam, the Quiseen does not have to be unplugged after use. NEITHER unit has a “keep warm” feature, they brew one cup at a time. The Sunbeam does not have a motorized pump, the water flow into your cup by gravity. The Quiseen’s flow seems to be pumped by a non-motorized mechanism which is set to dispense exactly one U.S. cup of water.CLEANING: The Sunbeam is all one unit including the heating unit. Care must be taken not to get the heating unit wet. The Quiseen uses a removable cordless tank similar to many electric hot pots so the electronics are contained in the base. That makes the Quiseen quite a bit easier to clean.CONSTRUCTION: The Sunbeam almost feels fragile in comparison with the Quiseen, including the much discussed plastic pour lever that many people report breaking. Both units are almost 100% plastic (the shiny silvery parts that look to be metal are mostly plastic). Most importantly almost every surface the water comes in contact with is plastic. For some people that is a deal breaker but remember we are comparing two unique and similar products and frankly there are no other similar options for small fast single cup hot water makers.FEATURES: The Sunbeam must be filled from another container each time. The Quiseen can be filled from another container or the entire tank can be carrier to the sink or water dispenser, making it much more convenient to fill. The Sunbeam’s plastic spill tray is built in and won’t hold any spillage while the Quiseen uses a removable spill cup with a metal grate to catch any spillage.SIZE: For size you can’t beat the Sunbeam, it will fit in the smallest dorm rooms, office cubicles, etc. The Quiseen of course is larger because of the larger water reservoir but the amount of counter space it takes up isn’t substantially larger. It is still very compact. The Quiseen has a see-through water tank that lights up bright blue when in use so you know how much water is left, with the Sunbeam you have to lift the lid and peer into it. The smaller size of the Sunbeam has a drawback, however, in that a normal coffee cup barely fits and taller mugs won’t fit at all. Of course, travel mugs are strictly out. With the Quiseen you have a little more leeway, I had no problem fitting my tallest coffee mug, but still no dice on using travel mugs.WHAT’S NOT TO LIKEI think Quiseen has come up with a much better alternative to the Sunbeam One Shot but score one against it is that it is twice the price. The design is unique and perhaps a little odd looking but I’m not saying it is unattractive, just different. I dislike that the handle to remove the tank (which has the push button on it to flip the filling lid open) is at the rear. I don’t know how else they could have designed it and still have it function as a one-shot instant hot water maker but having the handle at the rear means you can’t place the unit at the back of your counter against the wall without having to pull it out all the time. The Quiseen’s design would be perfect sitting on an office desk or on a table but isn’t ideal to place on a countertop. The thing I dislike most however, and this could be a deal-breaker, is that there is no manual “pour” button to dispense water when you want it and IN THE QUANITY you want it. Once the water comes to a boil it will dispense a measured amount all by itself, you can’t stop the flow, nor can you adjust it for various capacity cups. It will dispense what the designers pre-determined to be “one cup”. I had to take a star away for that odd design.SUMMARYI have been shopping for weeks for something to make a very quick cup of hot water for instant soup or for a quick cup of tea and with every choice there were downsides I didn’t care for. Almost all of them were just too big in terms of water capacity and were too fussy if you include all of the steps from filling to setting to waiting 5-8 minutes to the necessary cleanup. I was ready to buy Sunbeam despite the warnings about the plastic parts breaking as it seemed to be the ONLY one-shot device being sold anywhere. Then I saw this new (and similar) unit from Quiseen that was so new it didn’t have any reviews yet so I took a chance. Although I rarely do video reviews anymore I felt the only way I could really explain it in detail, including exactly how long it takes to make a cup of hot water, how the unique removable tank works and how the cleanup process works was with video so I hope you watch it, it is important to understanding how this thing works. I was not able to film the two brands side-by-side at this time.BOTTOM LINEWhen I first bought this I gave it a 4-star rating, taking away one star because you can’t adjust how much water it dispenses. Since then I have used this thing on an average of 2-3 times every day, sometimes more and I found I actually prefer that it dispenses precisely 8 ounces of hot water every single time. The water temperature is always exactly the same and it always takes exactly the same amount of time from cold to when it starts dispensing the water (just over one minute). It is one of the most used kitchen appliances I own and I absolutely love it. I am buying a second one to put into storage in the event that the first one ever breaks and this model is no longer available. It stands out as one of the smartest purchases I made all year.

Great alternative to your keurig!
Bought as a gift for my sister and she loves it! She doesn't drink coffee and the keurig they own leaves her tea with a residual coffee flavor so this was a great option. Used daily and no issues or concerns! Highly recommended.

... our trip to England earlier in the year and liked the idea
We saw these kettles in UK in our trip to England earlier in the year and liked the idea. So we purchased it for our regular use for "almost instant " cup of tea as it boils just one cup very quickly without wasting energy. Use it for instant cup of soup or noodles.

Good product, but inability to adjust serving size is potentially problematic - some durability issues
It works as advertised and makes a cup of boiling water in just under 90 seconds, but because the just under 8 oz. of hot water it dispenses per serving cannot be adjusted, it may not adequately serve everyone's needs. UPDATE: It worked well but finally quite after 21 months of a 3-4 times per day use. The water tank will also get moldy over time unless you rinse it daily and leave it open. It still worked as represented but I dropped the rating down to average as it could have been more durable.
