Nice range of flavors if you’re a fan of exotic teas. On the pricey side, tho.

This is a nice sample set of individually wrapped bagged Vahdam black teas. I bought this for my wife to use and share at a conference (apparently all the tea provided there was Bigelow, Blech) and I’m told it was a big hit. We actually had never had this brand but it was the only all-black tea sampler we could find.I managed to swipe an Assam Exotic and a Spring Darjeeling to try. The Assam really impressed me and was easily one of the best bagged Assams I’ve had. Not sure what makes it more “exotic” than other Assams, but it was full flavored and malty with wonderful flowery notes and hints of molasses, caramel, and dried fruit. Come to think of it, Ive only previously encountered such floral notes in some loose leaf Assams, so it’s clearly good quality tea. The spring Darjeeling was less impressive, though still pleasant. I don’t usually care for bagged Darjeeling so I guess I’m impressed it’s as enjoyable as it is. It was much greener in character than the second flushes I’m used to and lacked any wine or muscat notes. Aroma was light and fruity, as was the taste. Hints of dried fruit, particularly figs, and grass. Nice, but overall a little too subtle. That said, it was good enough that I’d be very curious to sample and experiment with Vahdams loose leaf first flush.I’ve been told the Maharaja (English) Breakfast and Earl Gray were both quite good, but no word on the Summer Darjeeling. Overall, this is a good choice if you need a sample set of all-black teas for any occasion. I do think it would make a good gift for a black tea lover, but note that it just comes in a simple box so the presentation is not particularly impressive. We will be buying it again for the next iteration of her conference and they are good enough that I think I will sample some Vahdam loose leaf teas.***Edit-***One thing I’ve learned after further experience with Vahdam bagged teas is that the amount of leaf in these bags is calculated pretty precisely for around 8 oz of water. They can stretch a bit, but you will need to compensate by steeping a minute or two longer than you normally would. This works better for some of the teas, the Assam for example, than others. I often use a mug that holds about 12 oz, but found most Vahdam teas tasted much better in my 8 oz cups.**Further Edit**I’ve since been able to try the remaining teas in another sampler pack. I have to say I was disappointed in the summer Darjeeling. Although it was a little fuller bodied and fruitier than the spring one, it was much more restrained than other second flush Darjeelings I’ve had. It totally lacked any wine or Muscat notes and still seemed to have a rather green character. It wasn’t bad, I just didn’t find it very interesting. Given my reactions to the Darjeelings, I have dropped the rating to 4 stars. I still recommend the product overall, but I continue to believe Darjeeling just does not work well in bags.

First time trying this brand. I like the packaging and variety. All the flavors taste great. I also like the fact the package tells you if it's high caffeine or low. That helps if it's near bedtime vs morning. Will buy again. good price.

My son loves chai tea. He got this for Christmas and has been enjoying it ever since. He says they are delicious flavors.

I'm getting more into lose leaf teas, so I gave this one a shot. I've only tried 6 out of the 9 so far. 2 of them are extremely spicy, even though Ginger is only listed on one of them. There are 3 that I absolutely love and will be looking for more of those those.The main reason I'm giving this a 3 star is the packaging. The names, types and ingredients are listed on the underside of the tins. There is a clear window on the top so you can see the tea mix inside. But when it all looks kind of the same and want to know what it actually is, you have to pry the tin out of the whole and flip it over. All while hopping the lid is on securely. And don't try doing what I did - I thought I could just flip the tins over and have the labels facing up. WRONG. The moment I tried to pull one out, the base came out of the lid stuck in the hole, and the tea bits went all in the box. If I didn't want to keep the box for the tins to stay secure, all this might not be much of an issue.All in all, these are very interesting flavors and I would still buy these all over again. But maybe make my own storage containers so it won't make such a mess getting the tea from the tins.

Love this delicious chai sampler pack. Quality tea for the price.
