I got these as a replacement for the tiny little mason jar feeders that I bought last year. I bought replacement flowers for those little mason jar feeders, and they did not fit, nor was the customer service reps ‘solution’ totally acceptable. So I bought these instead. They are easy to clean since they open from the top. They are a little bigger than the tiny little mason jar feeders, so the water does not spill out while carrying them or hanging them. My only sort-of negative observations (& the reason for four stars instead of 5) are I wish they were a slight bit shorter as it does seem there’s a little more waste when changing the water frequently and if the opening was slightly larger, it would be easier to clean, though it is not difficult at all to clean.

This is a great hummer feeder! My hummingbirds had no problem transitioning from the one I've had for five years. I like it's clear glass with silicone flowers and hopefully non coroding metal. In summer, it's not practical or healthy to use a larger container because of the heat and the potential of the nectar going bad. Using half a batch my hummers empty the container in two days eliminating the possibility of them drinking contaminated nectar. For those mentioning the hummers aren't using this feeder. Keep in mind as summer progresses natural resources become more abundantly available. The reason I don't lose interest from my hummingbirds is I live in the high desert so natural resources are extremely limited. It's perfect and well made. I love it!

Hummingbirds don’t seem to like this. Very disappointed.

Positive aspects clearly are the ease of cleaning the feeder (wide opening etc.). It looks attractive and fills easily. Red also seems to be the most attractive color for hummingbirds and apparently is not visible to the bee eye spectrum of light. My doubt derives from the fact that the feeder has a lot of ‘waste’ space as the level of fluid in the jar never drops below just beneath the ‘flowers’, so either it does not attract that many hummingbirds or they can’t really get to the feeder fluid below that level. It may also be hard for them to ‘rest on the jar due to its shape, hence the four stars. My other feeder - a more traditional big box store type of feeder with a gravity driven filler function - attracts quite a few hummingbirds and they rest on the little ‘step’ while drinking. The disadvantage is that the flowers of this feeder are yellow and (therefore?) attract wasps and bees.
