Q: I read that the cord is 3 feet long. Is it thick or is itthin enough to loop into a small bundle since this kettle would be right next to the outlet?

The kettle has a cord organizer underneath the base. You can take out as much cord as needed and leave the rest underneath it. The cord is not super thin because it's UL rated. It can still be put in a bundle but it's not thin.

Q: What causes the marks on inside steel of of bottom of the pot? Is it rust?

No. it's not rust. is burned mineral deposits from the water. If you use flitered water those won't show up there or they will take longer to show up. Another source of that is the tea itself. Tea has pigments and those pigments can stain the Stainless Steel heating plate. You can easily removing that with a descaling solution or with white vinegar. just let it sit there for a few minutes.
