This book is a perfect introduction for a child to learn how to create a story. It has all sorts of different ways of starting the story or giving them creative options on how to write it, page to fill. As homeschoolers we were a little behind in our writing; the kids didn't enjoy it so we focused on other subjects. Second and third grade came around and I decided we needed to push story writing. They were reluctant, but when I bought this book they were all over it. I think this book would be appropriate for a 1st or 2nd grader that is already able to write a partial sentence at least. And also appropriate for child that can write complete sentences independently but might need a little help with the creative writing aspect or forming a story. My kids are going to be really sad when they finish this book, LOL.

My five year old enjoys doing the fill-in-the-blanks exercises and other activities in this book. A lot of them make him laugh, as they're fun and silly in order to keep kids engaged. Each activity helps teach an integral aspect of creating their own, unique stories with the proper basic framework taught in schools. My SIL is an English teacher, she thinks the book is an excellent teaching tool.
