I miss the flavor. Back home we use this on a daily basis. In the US you cannot find food with it.

I ordered this garam masala based on the great reviews. As a newbie to this flavor, I'm glad I wasn't steered wrong! I heard each garam masala is a little different, so you may want to check the list of ingredients first if you are buying it to follow a specific recipe. I am looking to broaden my cooking and saw a really nice coconut rice pudding recipe which called for garam masala - just tried it out and the spice was comforting and not overwhelming or spicy.

You can smell and feel the freshness and high quality nature of the spices by Shan. It makes cooking a joy and eating that much more pleasurable.

It's just okay. I thought it would be a lot more spicy or hot. Mild but it's good for general cooking. I make a lot of dishes that call for Masla and I'm happy to have it.

Like any Indian spice blend, each garam masala is different. I bought this for Butter Chicken, and also bought some garam masala at Whole Foods. This particular one is more "cumin" to the nose/palate, while the one from WF is more "cloves" - so I generally use some of each when a recipe calls for garam masala. If you've never tried Butter Chicken, look up a recipe, buy some garam masala, and get cookin'! My husband would eat it every night - it's that good!

Apart from its taste this stuff enhances the appearance of your dish when sprinkled over - you only need a little so it will last (tightly sealed for months)
