This book is little bit helpful for the people who already have basic knowledge in japanese language. But not for the beginners. We need day today words & its meanings .

I have a few books on a Japanese language but this is my most used book for quick information and grammar reviews. I have a bunch of Japanese friends who study here and I'm always using this book to get specific information because the grammar chapters are clearly identified and concise while there are numerous vocabulary lists of word groupings like food or flowers or occupation and so on. There is also a section devoted to counting classifiers which can be tricky to remember. It also has a bilingual dictionary and a chapter on the use of respectful language so important in Japanese culture. The CD is great for practice. I usually keep the book in my backpack because it is so easy to use, especially when I want to find out something particular quickly. I would be lost and I didn't have this great book.

This was absolutely THE worst book on learning Japanese. The book reads like a sort of grammar and sort of dictionary/sporadic phrasebook. There is no logic to this book at all; you are not learning lessons per say, just words mixed with grammar. Its a big mess. I am so glad I did not pay full price for this book or I would be thoroughly pissed off. Don't waste your money on this book. I realized too late, why would I learn Japanese from someone who's native language is Hindi?
