Works!
It's a solid hunk of metal, there's not much to go wrong.

Doesnt work with all grommet hardware.
Worked as intended. Doesnt work with all grommets. The grommets these worked with had 2 parts. The front and the small back piece.

Very strong.
Easy to use. Use on hard surface.

Consistently substandard quality for American made product
Ordered this 1/4" grommet die setter and it arrived with a crooked die profile. I do have a vintage US made die for 3/8" grommets and it is perfect. So I returned it for another one. One that's just as bad as the first one. So at least they're consistent. I'm returning this and will find something vintage as somehow 'new' stuff consistently sucks. Hmmm...it's increasingly tough when you grew up with decent tools...nothing spectacular, mind you, just good, reliable stuff.

Heavy duty
Pic is deceiving, nice size well made tool. Thought it was over priced, but now know it was worth the $. When I think about a 1/4” grommet, Lol, thought they sent me the wrong thing, but no, it was right.

This works fine, thank you
I have 78 of these grommets to set and it looks like my tests show that this works fine, with hammer and a firm base, like a work bench on concrete floor.

Difficult to use, doesn't seem to fit the rivets correctly.
Unfortunately this things is quite difficult to use effectively. It just doesn't seem to fit the rivets very well. One must work extremely carefully and slowly in order to not mis-strike the rivet, resulting in a smashed down on one side donut type of defect. The stock, Chinese made rivet set tool you see sold in starter kits with kydex rivets works just as well if not better. If you intend to store this in a non climate controlled place (probably even if you do) make sure you keep it well oiled or it will rust like crazy. This is a fact of life when it comes to most tool steels but a blue finish would have been nice. I had to Evaporust mine to make it useful again (the rust was extremely agressive on this steel).Maybe the tool geometry has been updated since I bought mine but if not I don't recommend this over the "free" one you get from Tandy Leather in the starter kit. If you do buy this tool I recommend you treat it with cold blue and oil before you put it away.
