The Pingel petcock is a nice replacement for the stock one on my '78 FLH
The Pingel petcock is a nice replacement for the stock one on my '78 FLH....even if it is somewhat expensive. The old petcock would not fully shut off and that slow drip would lead to wasted gas overflowing out carb or even worse....into the engine. The Pingel stopped this. I'm Glad I purchased this instead of a "cheaper" one.

Pingel sportster petcock
I personally cleaned threads on the tank with a tooth brush sized fine wire brush. Then used a little antiseize on both threads they are super fine and will cross thread easily. Ran the nut all the way on the petcock. then screwed onto tank until it seated backed off to make proper position and used nut to lock it in place. Have had no issues thus far.

Fits 2000 Harley Davidson Sporster.
Easy to install, no leaks, has the correct downward facing hose barb. Came with a cap to seal off the unused vacuum port if you have a T in your line from the carb.

Awesome product but confusing fitment guide.
Pingel makes a nice fuel valve. I recommend before you buy the wrong one look up the model number for your specific bike. Amazon may say it fits but then again it may not. I ended up buying the wrong one. Make sure you look up what model fuel valve you need on the pingel website.
