UPDATED: Plays Wonderful now!
UPDATE!Eastar reached out to me regarding my troubled and hard to play clarinet and issued me a new one. I offered to send the original back, just in case they wanted to fix it up and refurbish it but they advised to keep and and issued me a new one immediately. This time, I was little more open minded and gave it a 30 minute test run and immediately when putting it together, not only was unable to get air through with less of an issue than the first one, but this one gets LOUD easily lol and that's a great thing! Thank you so much Eastar for such a great experience. That's how you know a company cares more about the customer experience than the product.Old review:It came with 2 different sized bases and one of them barely works to push air through. I've definitely played clarinet before and I don't remember it ever being so difficult to get air to flow once everything is aligned correctly. In order to get sound out and air flowing, I have to shift the lower bridge of the keys just to get air flowing which is a horrible hand posture experience. When it does have to be that way, the sound is beautiful! It's a squeaky start of course since the air movement is off, and possibly the cheap reeds/mouthpiece but it sounds like it wants to work well. Probably going to have to return and get a refund.

Pretty great for a cheap instrument
I've never played a woodwind instrument but my impulsiveness told me I needed a clarinet. They're one of the quieter instruments so figured it would be perfect for an apartment. I can't really compare it to an expensive one since this is my first ever clarinet but it plays really nicely. Perfect for someone that just wants to mess around with something on their free time.At first I literally couldn't figure out how to make a noise but after watching a ton of youtube videos (quickstart clarinet on youtube) I finally could make a great sounding noise and I could finally start playing. Just make sure the whole reed is wet, other wise you wont make a noise. It comes with everything you could possibly need but the cork grease which was weird to me. Because cork grease is so important to have. Even flutes come with cork grease and you definitely dont want cork grease on a flute. But it even comes with a thumb pad, which you'll want to use because this thing is heavy. But it being heavy, it Definitely looks really well made for the price. It's quite beautiful.Overall it's definitely worth the price. If it weren't for these mass produced/cheap instruments then I would never get into playing music. Definitely buy it if you're thinking of getting into clarinet. Worth it rather than renting one when it'd end up costing more than this.

Good bargain buy for beginners
I played clarinet years ago in high school and wanted to start playing again. I decided to get a cheap, beginner clarinet. I have had this clarinet about a week now. Out of the box, all parts were present and intact- there is some tarnish already on a few spots, but nothing that effects the playing ability. It came with everything listed; however I did not realize until it arrived that cork grease does not come with it! An instrument that has been sitting in a warehouse for a while with corks drying out definitely needs the corks greased before first assembly. I made do with some lip balm and immediately ordered the grease (lip balm is not recommended-use only as a last resort!). Another oddity is that even though this is listed as a beginner clarinet, it comes with three 2.5 reeds. Beginners should start with a softer reed. Plus, one of the reeds was already attached to the mouthpiece, resulting in it being warped and unusable. It does play well and has a decent sound. If you need a starter clarinet, I recommend this one- just make sure to order cork grease along with it.

Great Beginner - Intermediate Clarinet
The media could not be loaded. As a clarinet beginner, I had a hard time at first creating sound, but after a few days of dedication and practice, I assure you, you will create some sound! You can see in the video, I'm not the best clarinet player, but I tried my best to play something! I hope you like it. I did blend in some sounds together to create something more pleasing to hear. Other than that, the sound itself is not fixed in any other form.I want to note that at first, the clarinet pieces (mouthpiece, the barrel, the upper joint, the lower joint, and the bell, (in order)) were hard to piece together. I realized then that all new clarinets are a bit hard around the cork because the manufacturers want clarinet to last longer, hence the tighter the better, that way the cork doesn't become too lose too fast (what clarinet cork grease can be used for). Tip: You can also adjust the barrel or switch to the other barrel it comes with to your liking for different or better sound.About the Bb Clarinet:Bb clarinet is the most popular used instrument. It's a transposing instrument, so the note would be around a major second from the note written on the music sheet. Fun fact about the Bb clarinet is that it's used in songs like jazz or songs like Mozart and older classical songs. Because of the wide range of musical compositions for Bb Clarinet, it is the most prominent choice, especially for beginning students. Another fact to chose this instrument is that it is flexible for players who would like to switch instruments like a saxophone or a flute between or in songs. When I played this Bb clarinet the tone felt bright and rich. I was impressed by the great sound and action that came with it. Make sure to never touch your thin part of the reed (easy to damage) and keep the reed moist when you play for nicer sound. The clarinet comes in great packaging and condition. The fact that it comes with a care kit plus a portable stand and all this for a great price! I definitely recommend purchasing this instrument especially if you are a beginner, you won't regret it!I really hope that this can inspire many people who wish to play or already play the clarinet to try this one.
